ART 1370 - CERAMICS I credits: 3.0 Objectives: A basic study in ceramics directed toward the beginning student. A studio course emphasizing the technical and conceptual skills needed to produce sound three-dimensional forms in clay. Basic clay forming techniques will be stressed, but the student is encouraged to experiment and build on basic knowledge. Method of Instruction: Lecture and demonstrations, group evaluations, class discussions, individual consultation, critiques by the instructor, and class work on projects. Attendance is mandatory. Method of Evaluation: A minimum of six projects will be assigned. Critiques, demonstration of working knowledge of basic techniques, concepts and craftsmanship, motivation, involvement, and attendance. Course Fee: $75.00.
