ART 1280 - COMPUTER IMAGING AND GRAPHIC DESIGN credits: 3.0 This is a basic to intermediate visual digital art course using the computer as a tool. Fundamental knowledge of Photoshop required. Students will use current Adobe Photoshop (and some Illustrator) software to generate and manipulate in class and out-of-class assignments. Lab time is available outside of class meetings. Course work includes practical applications of design concepts to problems such as individualized projects, poster design and magazine page layouts. Students will submit a digital portfolio for final evaluation. Method of Instruction: Demonstration, lecture, critiques and discussions. Method of Evaluation: A) Assignments are graded as they are submitted but students will be allowed to make changes, edits and improvements on any and all assignments and submit them with the end-of-term digital portfolio; B) Attendance and participation in group critiques; C) Application of the correct and appropriate material discussed in class - including knowledge of and ability to use the mediums will be assessed and evaluated regularly.
