ARH 5002 - ART HISTORY: MODERN AND POST credits: 3.0 This course will provide a foucused examination of the evolution of creative expression from the advent of Modernism in the 19th century up to our contemporary Post-Modern climate. The political, social, and informational contexts through which artisitc shifts have emerged will be studied to hlep understand the substance within various directional labels - (Die Brucjke, Futurisn, De Stijl, CoBrA, Gutai, Neo-Dada, ect. ) Critical theory, manifestos, and other writings by artist will support research of arrisitc develpment into our current pluralized “Post-Modern” response to “modernist” aestheticism and concerns. All of these contemportary art directions will be studied in the prevailing social and political contexts of their time.
