LAL 5130 - Folklore: Oral Tradition credits: 3.0 This children’s literature course will involve students in examining published folktales in the areas of creation myths, superhero legends, trickster tales, magic stories, and animal fables from around the world. Objectives include becoming acquainted with a wide range of contemporary children’s folk literature; understanding the meaning of such stories in the cultures where they evolved as well as their relevance in developing imagination, creativity and problem-solving skills in today’s children; and developing skills for presenting such folktales orally by adults and children.
