All students graduating with a degree in chemistry complete a set of core requirements and choose one of the following tracks, depending on the students’ career interests:

General-Education
Professional Chemistry
 

Total Credits Required to Complete Core Requirements: 26.0


Tracks:


General-Education Track:


The General Chemistry option is designed for students desiring a career in chemistry without a graduate degree. This track ensures that students cover many topics within chemistry in addition to providing flexibility with the general education requirements and allows students to double major in a non-science discipline easily and is also for students interested in Adolescence Education: Chemistry.

Elective:


  • Upper level CHE elective (CHE 3XXX) credits: 3.0-4.0

Total Credits Required for General-Education Track: 23.0-24.0


Total Credits Required to Complete Major With General-Education Track: 49.0-50.0


Professional Chemistry Track:


The Professional Chemistry Track is designed for students interested in attending graduate school in chemistry. This track provides students with a strong foundation in organic, analytical, inorganic, and physical chemistries and will prepare students to enter masters or doctoral programs in many fields of chemistry.

Elective:


  • Upper level CHE elective (CHE 3XXX) credits: 3.0-4.0

Total Credits Required for Professional Chemistry Track: 33.0-34.0


Total Credits Required to Complete Major With Professional Chemistry Track: 59.0-60.0
