EDU 5047-RDG 5047 Building on the understandings of how children acquire literacy development from preschool to Grade 12 in a multicultural society. Theories, instructional procedures, and practices are examined to provide a practical foundation for advancing literacy in all learners. Literacy skills such as phonemic awareness, phonic skills, word identification, vocabulary skills, study strategies, and strategies for building comprehension and constructing meaning are also studied in light of cultural, political, and theoretical common to literacy education.
