EDU 5026 - Curriculum Design for Adolescence Class credits: 3.0 This course begins with a brief historical overview of education curriculum and is followed by an examinations of how past views on teaching and learning, coupled with present day learning theories, impact on today’s secondary curriculum and instruction. Both secondary mainstream and transformative curricular philosophies and applications are presented and their respective relevance to a changing democratic society is also discussed. Additionally, student reflect on how to implement curriculum in secondary-school classrooms and ascertain what possible effects teaching these curricula may have on individual teaching and learning styles. The class culminates with participants developing a Unit Plan for practical use in grade 7-12 classrooms.
