NSG 2510 - FUNDAMENTALS OF NURSING CARE I credits: 2.0 Fundamentals of Nursing Care I can be taken prior to or at the same time with NSG 3115 - HEALTH ASSESSMENT OF CLIENTS ACROSSTHE LIFE SPAN . This practicum is for beginning nursing students and provides an introduction to the hospital environment and hospitalized clients. Prior to, and concurrent with the hours of hands-on experience in the hospital setting, students will be given instruction in basic nursing skills including essential physical care procedures, basic communication principles, and establishment and maintenance of the nurse-client relationship. Method of Instruction: Lectures and demonstrations, completion of learning modules and instructor feedback regarding their performance. Method of Evaluation: Quizzes and examinations, clinical assignments, clinical performance evaluations, as well as mastering of specific required skills.
