Will provide students the opportunity to enhance the general well-being, healing and health maintenance of self and others through the use of complementary therapies. Designed for students who are interested in the field of health care, the major emphasis will be on learning techniques and developing skills to practice complementary therapies. Reiki, Therapeutic Touch and Pranic Healing and other selected healing techniques will be explored and practiced. Objectives: A) Identify the origins of complementary therapies of healing hands; B) Explain the concepts of energy fields; C) Discuss the physiological benefits to the client healing hands therapies; D) Describe the stages and techniques of therapeutic Touch; E) Discuss research on healing hands therapies; F) Practice techniques of healing hands. . Method of Instruction: Lecture, discussion, and labs for practice. Method of Evaluation: Class Participation: 10%, Journal: 5%, Quiz:10%, Paper: 15%, and Exam: 15%. Meets *NWP Distribution Requirement.
