MAT 3050 - LINEAR ALGEBRA credits: 4.0 Objectives: This course provides a transition from computational mathematics to more theoretical mathematics, but also provides some powerful mathematical tools that can be applied in the natural and social sciences. Specific topics include matrix algebra and linear transformations, determinants, systems of linear equations, finite-dimensional vector spaces, eigenvalues, and the geometry of Euclidian spaces. Method of Instruction: Lecture and discussion sessions, with computer lab work. Method of Evaluation: Grades will be based on examinations, homework problems, and a comprehensive final examination.
Prerequisite(s): MAT 2020 - CALCULUS II and MAT 2100 - DISCRETE MATHEMATICS
